Testing and Analysis

Affordable Testing & Analysis (T&A) is a facility aimed at all sites of any period, not simply those associated with metal-working.

Affordable T&A means implies that the necessary measurements take place in the field, while the excavation is underway, and without undue strain to the overall project budget.

To facilitate feature/context characterisation and interpretation, SASAA provides routine screening tests, chemical analysis of soils and soil solutions, and soil micromorphological analysis...

SASAA also provides analysis of aggregate materials (industrial wastes) and metal artefacts...

• Aggregates consist of slag, pottery/bone fragments, charcoal/coal, metallurgical ceramics, partially fused materials (be it ore or others) and raw metals.  

• Analytical techniques used include: SEM-EDAX, XRD, ICP-AES, ICP-MS.
